Full Gas

Peter Sagan. He won his first race in the rainbow jersey today. The curse is broken. Winner of Gent – Wevelgem. A semi-classic race. There is probably no one that is not happy with this after all his second places. He is the lucky one.

It was full gas from the beginning of the race. The wind played a big role and the peloton was broken into pieces. Still, the famous ‘Kemmelberg’ made all the difference. The riders had to climb this hill twice today. The second time Sagan once again showed us how strong he is. He and Cancellara were the first ones to cross the top of the hill. In the final he won the sprint with a length of difference. He is getting in shape. A week before Flanders. Winning in Wevelgem is good for his confidence. Deep in his heart he wants to win Flanders so badly. If he becomes second next week, he will not smile on that podium. Today though, he smiled on the podium. He was a happy man, even when it started raining heavily after the finish. Sagan kept smiling. A rainbow appeared. A rainbow in the sky. Rain and sun at the same time. A rainbow on the day that the man in the rainbow jersey won the race. Coincidence? I believe that it was destiny.
