Tour de France 2012 / 30 June / Prologue Liège (Luik)
The Tour de France started in Liège (Luik) in Belgium this year with a prologue of 6,4 kilometres. Fabian Cancellara (STB) was the winner at the end of the day, Bradley Wiggins (SKY) the number two and Sylvain Chavanel (OPQ) the number three. Cancellara finished the prologue in 7 minutes and 13 seconds, whereas Wiggins and Chavanel were 7 seconds slower.
Fränk Schleck’s daughter Leea visited her dad after he finished the prologue. Her uncle Andy Schleck, one of the favorites for the Tour victory, was unable to start in La Grande Boucle because of a fractured sacrum.
Bauke Mollema and Robert Gesink from the Rabobank Cycling Team stated in an interview with the Dutch national tv that there is no specific leader in their team, but that their teammates will ride for the both of them. On top of that, Steven Kruijswijk will get the opportunity from the team to show what he is capable of in his first Tour de France.

His team, Argos-Shimano, received a wildcard for this year’s Tour de France. The other wildcard teams are Cofidis, Europcar and Saur-Sojasun.
