Eneco Tour 2011 / 8 August / Prologue Amersfoort
The Eneco Tour 2011 started off with a prologue in Amersfoort, a city in the middle of The Netherlands. It was raining before the start, but luckily it stayed dry for the rest of the race. Two riders of Team Rabobank managed to end up in the top ten: Lars Boom became fifth and Jos van Emden sixth.
The most successful rider of 2011 so far is Philippe Gilbert. His goal is to win the Eneco Tour and gain points for the World Tour ranking.
Edvald Boasson Hagen won two stages in this year’s Tour de France, but was not able to win the prologue of the Eneco Tour and became second. David Millar managed to become third and Alex Rasmussen ended up being fourth.
The winner of the prologue is the 21-year-old Taylor Phinney. The talented rider from BMC finished the 5,7 km long course in 6 minutes and 57 seconds. On top of that, he was the only rider on stage afterwards; all the jerseys were his.
